Kalkan Beaches

Beaches

There are many places to enjoy the beautiful water of Kalkan. In most areas ribbons of chilly water flow from the fresh water springs beneath the surface and provide a welcomed relief from the warm summer sun. Submerge yourself in the stunningly clear turquoise sea and bask in the glorious sun at the public beach, one of the many beach clubs or travel a short distance to the beautiful and stunning beaches of Patara and Kaputas.

Public beach:

Kalkan public beach is situated next to the harbour and is a long stretch of pebbly beach. With its close proximity to town it’s the perfect place to spend the day, cool off after a hard day of shopping or after a meal at one of the restaurants close by. Sunbeds and umbrellas are readily available from nearby cafes and restaurants.

Beach clubs:

There are also many beautiful beach clubs, all of which provide something a little bit different in terms of setting and atmosphere. The beach clubs are vast, platformed areas with ladders into the sea so you can enter with ease and be recognised by the many umbrellas that cover the space. Generally speaking, at a small fee of 3-4 pounds, you will receive a ferry service and use of all facilities, including sunbeds, cabanas and umbrellas. The ferries can be located in the harbour close to the public beach there. The journey takes around 10 mins, and the ferries run regularly from the harbour to the clubs from 9 am until 7 pm. There are restaurants and bars at each of the clubs with friendly staff to accommodate your needs. Most have additional pools and swimming platforms, and toilets and showers are always available. If you want more out of your day than bathing in the glorious sun and sea, water sports are also available at all the beaches to quench your thirst for speed and excitement.

CLUB PATARA

Club Patara, part of the stunning Patara Prince Resort, provides an exquisite setting for a day by the water with its styled architecture built on natural rock features. You can choose a bed on the beach platform at one of the pools or on one of the many small and more private platforms jutting out from the stone walls above the crystal-clear turquoise sea. Enjoy a meal at the stylish restaurant with breathtaking views of the bay, or you can choose from the snack and drinks menu, and waiters will bring your meal to you.

Indigo has one of the best beaches for quality and choice of food. Choose from the delicious menu on offer with a range of salads, pasta and meat dishes. Outside of Kalkan

Just outside of Kalkan, discover the beautiful sandy beaches of Kaputas and the very famous Patara beach.

Patara beach

The long 20km stretch of golden sandy coastline and rolling sand dunes make Patara Beach the perfect place to spend the day and enjoy the breathtaking sunset at dusk. Voted one of the top beaches in the world by Times Online – Best of 2005, it is an easy 10-15 minute stroll away from the major ruins at Patara. It is part of the national park, is rich in birdlife, and is the home and breeding ground for the endangered loggerhead turtle. Patara is a lovely restaurant with a reasonably priced menu, a large covered eating area, and friendly staff to accommodate your needs. Entry fee is per person, and umbrellas and sunbeds are available, as well as shower and toilet facilities. Patara lies west of Kalkan and is thirty-five minutes by local dolmus or easily accessible by car.

Kaputas Beach

Well known for its unspoilt beauty the popular Kaputas beach is located at the bottom of a narrow and flourishing valley surrounded by magnificent towering cliffs just 7km’s from Kalkan town. The beautiful sandy white beach and crystal clear turquoise water can be reached by stairs descending from the road. There are no amenities; however, there are some astute locals selling small snacks and hiring out umbrellas and sunbeds. Consequently, if you intend to spend the day at Kaputas, make sure you come prepared with plenty of water. You can reach Kaputas by car, the local dolmus, or on a gulet trip.
